Local College Inks Deal with Esports Startup

Becker College and Brown University are among the first higher ed institutions to provide free esports coaching to their students by way of Boston-based Gamer Sensei. I talked to some folks at Becker for a BostInno articleabout why they decided to pay for students to use the esports coaching platform, and it’s basically about giving their collegiate teams an advantage as they plan to compete with teams at other colleges. In terms of non-game development companies in Boston that are doing interesting things in the industry, Gamer Sensei is definitely one of them and a company I have written about a few times for BostInno.
Speaking of Becker College, the college announced last week that it’s launching a new, two-year Master’s program for game development. The goal of the Master of Fine Arts in Interactive Media is for the student to create “an original interactive media project based on their own personal skill sets and vision,” according to a press release. The college — which has been regarded as a top game design school by U.S. News and World Report and The Princeton Review — says the program will prepare graduates to take on leadership roles within the industry. Learn more about the program right here.
