How Earplay Partnered with Mr. Robot

As promised from last week, I have more on how Boston-based Earplay ended up making a choose-your-own-adventure game for Amazon Alexa with the creators of the Emmy Award-winning TV show Mr. Robot. Jonathon Myers, the company’s CEO and co-founder, told me for a BostInno article that his company had gone through Voice Camp, a startup accelerator focused on voice computing run by Betaworks (a New York-based startup studio behind companies like Giphy and TweetDeck). Through that, Myers and his Chief Creative Officer Dave Grossman, a Telltale Games and LucasArtsvet, were able to present at a panel on audio storytelling at USA Network’soffice, where they connected with Mr. Robot’s digital team. Beyond Earplay’s Mr. Robot Daily Five/Nine skill for Alexa, the company also has a standalone skill for all of its other interactive audio experiences, which has received an average rating of four-and-a-half stars from nearly 600 users. To date, the company has racked up more than 300,000 users.
